Dale Earnhardt Jr. has become the first and only racer so far to win the independent day weekend race at Daytona International Speedway. Earnhardt Jr won the race in 2003 and 2006. It was known as Winn-Dixie 250 during that time.

Memorable Moments at Wawa 250

  • 2003: Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the Winn-Dixie 250 by leading all 100 laps.
  • 2004: Cars ran a roof spoiler, and the last 10 laps had multiple lead changes. 
  • 2010: Dale Earnhardt drove a Chevrolet in 2010 subway Jalapeno 250 and finished third.
  • 2011: Two new cars were added to the draft, and Kevin Harvick Incorporated surprised everyone by securing a position at 4 in the qualifying.
  • 2012: Kurt Busch won one of the most competitive NASCAR Xfinity Series Race at Daytona after several off-track incidents. However, throughout the tournament, the lead changes 42 times.
